Description
DR’s Drop Down Tuning (DDT) set is built for bassists who tune low and need strings that don’t fight back. Rather than simply slapping on heavier gauges, DR spent two years developing a set that holds intonation at lowered pitches better than standard heavy strings, settling into tune almost immediately and requiring far fewer touch-up adjustments once you’re there.
The secret is Accurate Core Technology (ACT), DR’s process of reinforcing the hexagonal core wire and filling in microscopic imperfections along its full length. A cleaner, more consistent core translates directly into steadier intonation, fuller tone, and longer string life — the foundation every wrap wire relies on.
These are stainless steel strings, chosen for their bright, cutting attack and resistance to wear, finished with ball ends for standard bass bridges. Whether you’re dropping to D, C, or further down, this set is designed to stay stable through tuning changes rather than going limp or losing pitch accuracy the way ordinary heavy-gauge sets often do.
- Scale length: 37 3/4″
