Rather than relying on standard off-the-shelf gauge pairings, D’Addario calculated this Balanced Tension configuration to smooth out the feel differences that normally show up when moving from wound to plain strings, making bends, strums, and picking passages feel more uniform from the low E to the high E.
Tonally, these are built on D’Addario’s XL Nickel Wound line, the company’s best-selling electric guitar string. Nickel-plated steel is precision wound over a hexagonal high-carbon steel core, giving the set a bright, articulate voice with dependable intonation.
