Description
The ECG23 set is D’Addario’s lightest-gauge Chromes offering, giving guitarists the signature flatwound warmth with noticeably less string tension underhand. Instead of the round outer wrap found on typical electric sets, these strings use a flattened stainless steel ribbon wound over a hex core, then run through three rounds of polishing to achieve their glass-smooth surface.
That construction is what gives flatwounds their trademark voice: a damped, tone-rich response that rounder-wound strings can’t replicate. It’s a natural fit for traditional jazz comping, rockabilly twang, R&B lines, and even certain pop or rock textures where a mellower attack is preferred.
- Gauges: Plain steel .010, .014; Nickel wound .020, .028, .038, .048
- Flattened stainless steel ribbon winding over hex cores, polished in three stages for a smooth, warm tone
- Corrosion-resistant, fully recyclable cardboard packaging — no plastic sleeves or paper envelopes
- Color-coded ball ends for quick, easy string identification
- Manufactured in the U.S.A. on D’Addario’s digitally controlled production equipment
D’Addario backs every set with its long-standing reputation for consistency, producing each string on proprietary machinery in the U.S. Whether you’re chasing that classic jazz box tone or a rockabilly slap-back sound, ECG23 strings are built to deliver it reliably, set after set.
