Developed and made by D’Addario in New York, the NYXL line reimagines the traditional nickel wound string from the core outward, pairing a break-resistant high-carbon steel core with a specially drawn plain steel alloy.
The result is a string that resists breakage under aggressive playing, bends further without giving up, and holds pitch with up to 131% greater tuning stability than conventional nickel wound sets. Behind this jump in performance is a reengineered wire-drawing process combined with D’Addario’s proprietary fusion twist technique applied to the plain steel strings, locking in tuning right from the first strum.
On the wound side, the nickel plating has been reformulated for stronger magnetic response, pushing output higher and sharpening the mid-range between 1-3.5 kHz. Guitarists get more presence and crunch that cuts cleanly through a full band mix, whether played clean or driven hard.
