The plain steel wires go through a proprietary “fusion twist” process paired with a reformulated high-carbon steel alloy, giving them noticeably more resistance to breakage than conventional plain steels. That added strength translates directly to feel: you can bend further and push harder without worrying about snapping a string mid-solo.
Tuning stability sees a major jump too — D’Addario reports up to 131% improvement over standard nickel wound strings, so you spend less time retuning and more time playing. The nickel-plated windings were also reformulated for stronger magnetic response, boosting output and sharpening midrange presence in the 1-3.5kHz range.
