D’Addario’s NYXL1046BT is a Balanced Tension set built to smooth out the inconsistencies players feel between thick and thin strings. Instead of standard tension spacing, each gauge in this set is calibrated so bending, strumming, fretting, and picking all feel proportionate string to string.

Under the hood, these strings use D’Addario’s New York-engineered high-carbon steel core paired with a plain steel alloy, manufactured to resist breakage far beyond typical string cores. A reworked wire-drawing method combined with the brand’s “fusion twist” process on the plain strings pushes tuning stability up to 131% higher than conventional nickel-wound sets, meaning less time retuning and more time playing.
The nickel-plated windings have also been reformulated to boost magnetic output, which sharpens the mid-range response between 1-3.5 kHz. Practically, that translates to more bite and presence when you need your tone to cut through a mix.
