D’Addario built this hybrid gauge by taking the plain steel top strings from a super light set and pairing them with the wound strings from a regular light set, giving you .009, .011, .016 plain steels alongside .026, .036, .046 nickel wound strings.
NYXL strings are engineered in New York around a high-carbon steel core and plain steel alloy designed to resist breakage under aggressive playing. D’Addario’s reinvented wire-drawing method, combined with a fusion twist process on the plain steel strings, is engineered to deliver up to 131% better tuning stability than standard strings, so you spend less time retuning between takes or sets.
The nickel-plated wound strings use a reformulated alloy with increased magnetic output, pushing more energy into the 1-3.5 kHz range. That translates to extra midrange bite and presence, useful for cutting through a dense mix without sacrificing warmth.
